150M19 - Low Carbon-Manganese Steel

Surcharge

Both Scrap and most alloys saw a small increase going into April, meaning surcharges for the majority of grades increased slightly.

Nickel has been rising steadily (albeit not significantly) in recent weeks and therefore we would expect to see this filter through to the surcharges in the coming weeks.

Surcharge information as listed via Liberty Speciality Steels where possible, other based on mean chemical analysis for the given grade.

Description

150M19 grade steel is a medium tensile, low carbon manganese steel which is readily weldable and possesses good impact resistance.

The material is capable of through hardening by quenching and tempering on limited sections but is more commonly supplied in the untreated or normalized condition. Machinability is similar to that of mild steel.

Typical applications of 150M19 grade steel

  • Welded structures
  • Lifting gear
  • Spindles

150M19 steel is still often referred to as EN14 steel - its equivalent grade under the previous BS 970: 1955 standard.
