Industrial Engineering, Hydraulics
In order to facilitate a hydraulic equipment project by one of our clients, we were approached by them to explore the supply of raw steel materials on short lead times of no greater than a week.
With very limited forward visibility and consistency of demand, the client needed a high number of sizes and steel grades, coupled with a clause restricting the country of origin of its steel production facilities.
This is the kind of challenging brief we thrive on here at Hillfoot as we have both the stock availability and logistics experience to set up the framework for this kind of flexible contract.
Another requirement was consistency across the grades supplied, and the contract also required stock to be supplied pre-sawn.
The other key elements of their brief were quick lead times, high volume and limited repeat.
“At Hillfoot we’re able to construct flexible contracts like this thanks to our vast steel stockholdings, which means we can be consistent both on price and availability. When clients have high volume up-front demand, but with limited forward visibility, we can give them the supply reassurance they need with a flexible arrangement that also gives them cost transparency.”
