Hillfoot bring you an update on surcharges for carbon and alloy steel grades in December 2016.

Following only slight changes to prices for most alloy engineering grades in November, this month sees a noted rise across the board.

Hillfoot’s Purchasing Manager Simon Taylor explains: “Scrap has risen by £23/T, driven by increased global demand and reduced stocks. Nickel has also risen slightly, and is expected to rise again in January as the LME price has risen steadily in recent weeks. This will then filter through to the surcharge price.”

This increase in the Scrap price has meant an upward movement for the surcharges on many carbon steel grades.
