Hillfoot bring you an update on the March 2019 surcharges for carbon and alloy steels.

There is little movement in the surcharges for carbon and alloy steels for March 2019, with a drop in the Scrap surcharge offset by slight increases in some alloys.

Scrap has dropped from £231 per tonne in February to £223, bringing down the surcharges on carbon grades to their lowest level since May 2018.

The picture for alloy grades is mixed, but the movements either way are relatively small.

Hillfoot’s Executive Director Simon Taylor said: “The Scrap surcharge has reduced slightly for March, but with some alloys increasing slightly, the net effect is little change overall this month.”
