Business Development Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Business Development Manager to join Hillfoot Steel Ltd, part of the Murray Metals Group.   Hillfoot Steel Ltd, are one of the UK’s largest steel stockholders and supply materials to manufacturers in a wide range of industries, including the automotive, oil & gas, mining, power generation, construction, defence and industrial engineering sectors,

As part of our next stage of growth we are looking for a driven, Business Development Manager to achieve agreed sales targets for the department and grow market share through current customer base and new strategic business development initiatives.

The role can be based regionally in Yorkshire, West Midlands, North West or Bristol.

The main tasks include: 

  • To develop transactional, repeat and contractual business within designated geographic regions and sectors
  • Carry out regular visits to incumbent & development customers in accordance with the agreed time lines
  • To develop strong customer relationships to support ongoing client understanding, allowing for growth and maximisation of business.
  • To share market intelligence with the Senior Commercial team regarding risk and opportunities in areas such as supply chains, sectors, geographical regions, product and competitors.
  • To account manage key accounts and new targets to a position of sustained trading
  • Generate strategic new business through project-based initiatives (as lead by the Business Strategy Director)
  • To produce quotations for customers based on agreed pricing
  • To understand added value opportunities
  • To attend networking events to support lead generation and development of existing opportunities
  • Overnight stays will also be expected to ensure effective sales coverage

Candidates must have:

  • Min 3 years previous experience in within a commercial/business role
  • A proven track record of management of key accounts in the steel industry
  • A proven track record of business development and achieving sales targets
  • Broad commercial and industry awareness
  • Excellent relationship building skills
  • Excellent communication skills – internal and external

Account Manager

Hillfoot Steel Ltd are one of the UK’s largest steel stockholders and supply materials to manufacturers in a wide range of industries - including the automotive, oil & gas, mining, power generation, construction, defence and industrial engineering sectors.

We also provide a selection of value added services, including: processing, testing, supply-chain management, export delivery, metallurgical advice and product development, to make purchasing steel as straightforward as possible for our customers.

We now have an excellent opportunity for an Account Manager (Internal) to join our team based at our site in Sheffield, Herries Road

The main tasks include:

  • Manage designated key accounts on a day-to-day basis ensuring good customer service levels
  • Build, develop and increase customer performance
  • Build and develop long term relationships with designated Key customers
  • Liaise with Office Manager or Senior Management on any issues or opportunities with your customer base
  • Liaise with the purchasing team to order and manage customer specific stocks
  • Ensure accounts trade within current agreed credit limits
  • Liaise with Operations and Purchasing staff concerning customer requirements and re ordering of steel
  • Respond to customer enquiries professionally, promptly and accurately
  • Produce quotations for customers based on pricing models agreed by the Office Manager and/or Senior Management
  • Ensure higher customer service levels

Candidates must have:

  • Min 3 years previous experience in within a commercial/business role.
  • A proven track record of management of key accounts in the steel industry
  • A proven track record of achieving sales targets within an engineering services sales environment
  • Broad commercial and industry awareness
  • Excellent relationship building skills
  • Excellent communication skills – internal and external
  • STEEL INDUSTRY KNOWLEDGE NOT ESSENTIAL
