Business Development Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Business Development Manager to join Hillfoot Steel Ltd, part of the Murray Metals Group.   Hillfoot Steel Ltd, are one of the UK’s largest steel stockholders and supply materials to manufacturers in a wide range of industries, including the automotive, oil & gas, mining, power generation, construction, defence and industrial engineering sectors,

As part of our next stage of growth we are looking for a driven, Business Development Manager to achieve agreed sales targets for the department and grow market share through current customer base and new strategic business development initiatives.

The role can be based regionally, South Yorkshire, West Midlands or Bristol.

The main tasks include: 

  • Carry out regular visits to all contract & development customers in accordance with the agreed timelines
  • Generate strategic new business through project-based initiatives
  • To produce quotations for customers based on pricing models agreed by the sales manager
  • To develop contractual business from key strategic customers
  • To identify new opportunities for product development within designated market sectors
  • To market the company brand through dialogue with the supply chain to gain intelligence about current projects and to understand the key sector drivers
  • To understand added value opportunities 
  • To submit a monthly performance related report to the sales manager

Candidates must have: 

  • Min 3 years previous experience in within a commercial/business role
  • A proven track record of management of key accounts in the steel industry
  • A proven track record of achieving sales targets within an engineering services sales environment
  • Broad commercial and industry awareness
  • Excellent relationship building skills 
  • Excellent communication skills – internal and external
