S355 - Low Carbon Manganese Steel

Surcharge

Scrap has risen in July and surpassed the previous 2-year high seen in February this year, reversing the reductions seen in the previous 2 months.

Alloys have reduced slightly, but forecasts remain for these to level and start to rise again in Q3 as mills increase consumption following the summer shutdowns.

Description

S355 grade steel is a medium tensile, low carbon manganese steel which is readily weldable and possesses good impact resistance (also in sub-zero temperatures).

This material is commonly supplied in the untreated or normalised condition and is available in several variations (denoted by additional letters and/or digits) which offer slight modifications of chemical composition and mechanical properties.

Machinability of this material is similar to that of mild steel.

***Hillfoot now stock 80 - 230mm diameter S355 material sourced from a DNV, Lloyds and ABS approved mill in Western Europe.***
