1923 - In the beginning Mr. Tom Green, based in the Hillsborough area of Sheffield founded Hillfoot. There was only one member of staff and one spring forging hammer.
1938 - The company grew at a steady pace, running 4 forging hammers through the Thirties.
1944 - Continued growth with 30 employees with 8 steam hammers, producing 2000 tonnes of steel per annum.
1950s - Stockholding operation established supplying surplus steel to the post-war market.
1970s - Hillfoot expands further with depots in Leicester and Wolverhampton, supplying engineering steels to customers across the Midlands and the South of England. Annual turnover reached £3 million.
1984 - Hillfoot moves business on with the acquisition of Laughton Steels, a major supplier of steel to the Forging industry.
1995 - Another business purchase, Hillfoot acquires Hytemp Nickel Alloys Ltd, a leading supplier of ferrous and non-ferrous material to the Oil and Gas industry worldwide.
2002 - Centralisation of the business with vast investment in Hillfoot's National Service Centre in Sheffield. Annual turnover now £30 million.
2003 - Whilst remaining the major shareholders of the Hillfoot Steel Group, the Green family end their involvement in the day-to-day running of the company, after an 80 year association.
2005 - Hillfoot install industry leading IT system, continuing the traditions of investment and innovation.
